Who's Up For a Miracle?
by Coach Jeannette   Money
Last week I heard a bright-eyed new coach express his belief that planetary peace was our destiny, and that coaching was the most powerful way to usher it in. Someone ridiculed him by asking if he'd watched the news lately and curtly added "world peace would be a miracle." The coach paused before earnestly responding: "Well, I'm up for a miracle."

That's exactly how it's done, isn't it? Someone believes in the impossible. Someone dares to hold the possibility for what they want. It starts with someone daring the idea and making room for it to happen.

So are you up for a miracle? Really?

“Who isn't, Jeannette?” you might be thinking. Don't we all want dreams come true with miracles of change happening all around us? Getting the bodies, bank accounts and relationships we've always fantasized about? Well, it's one thing to say it; it's another to do it.

Here’s the deal: in order to really be ready for a miracle, you have to give up your old stance. You have to give up pigeon-holing others, give up your unconscious payoffs to current reality and your old “stories.” You must open to new experiences and possibilities - for yourself and others.

I'll be the first to agree it takes strength, courage, and maybe even a little naivete. Yes, it might be scary, and yes we risk failure. But what happens if we don't?

So if you’re up for a miracle, there is no better time for it. Join leading edge players in embracing our potential to create whatever we want; leaving all excuses and reasons behind. People are already proving there isn't anything we can't have or be or do! It's time for you to get in the game!

Going Beyond Reason
You Gotta Try This!
What are your reasons for not already creating your dream come true? Most of us have at least a few, and believing in those reasons creates a drag on our miracle-making abilities.
So why aren't you waking up with your perfect partner? Because she doesn't exist? The good ones are already taken? You need to drop 15 pounds before you're loveable? Mm hmm.

Why aren't you experiencing wild success in your work or financial life? Because the competition's tough? The economy isn't cooperating? You don't have the degree or training or connections? I see.

Or why haven't you regained your health? Because the doctor only gave you a 10% chance? Your family isn't supportive? You need a better pair of shoes? Sweeties, can you see we're making all this up?

Whatever reasons you're giving life to are true. They're true because you believe in them. You can choose to stop believing in these reasons, let them go once and for all, and make room for a miracle. Let that be your new truth.

This is my invitation to discover your reasons and go beyond them. You're the powerful one, not your "reasons." You created them, and you can uncreate them just as easily.

I know your natural reaction is to argue for your reasons, defend them as truth, but I'm telling you - that doesn't serve you. Let them go, friend. In fact, let's all go beyond reason! What a wonderful world that would be: powerful people getting what they want!

"Yeah, But" - Q & A with the Coach
Your Question Answered   Jeannette
Q: “What do you mean I have to give up my payoffs?” asked a client who was stuck in his rut. He hadn’t progressed as he expected, although he was doing all the "right" things.

“There’s no payoff to being broke and unemployed,” he insisted. That’s what he believed, but it wasn’t true.

We all have payoffs from our “problems.” If there wasn’t a payoff, we wouldn’t be doing it. Getting conscious of your payoffs will un-stick you.

So how to discover your hidden payoffs to your life complaints? One way is to ask yourself what the situation or behavior allows you to continue or keeps you from doing.

Example: my complaint about carrying these extra few pounds allows me to feel camaraderie with others who struggle (yes, I know that’s twisted and limiting). My client's payoff to being broke and unemployed may be that he doesn’t have to be responsible for his life. He doesn’t have to wake up at a certain time, doesn't risk the wrath of a boss, and can't fail if he’s not doing anything! Twisted, huh? We're not the only ones. You have them too, lovers.

Boiled down, your payoff may be as simple as being right or justified, making someone else wrong, dominating or avoiding domination, or avoiding being responsible.

Getting a handle on your payoffs can help set you free of your complaints and "stuck" areas, allowing you creative freedom to redesign your life just as you like.

Success Spotlight
Miracle Makers Galore!
In keeping with the theme of miracles, here are a handful of last week's stories to get you in the “miracle” vibe!
34 year old Joe wanted to be a fireman his entire life. It’s eluded him through failed tests, bad interviews, and no family support. The closest he got was work on an ambulance. That is, until his wife broke both her legs. Helpful neighbors descended upon them with casseroles, house cleaning, and help with the kids while she was restricted to bed. One of the new women befriending her turned out to be married to the captain of the local firehouse. Long story short, Joe starts as a fireman in June. Nice miracle, Joe!

Ron's passion is restoring old cars to pristine condition. He’s good at it, loves it, but doesn’t make much at it. So he’s spent the last four months painting stereo speakers instead (there's money in that?), and hasn't worked in his car shop for months.

One day Ron stopped by his old shop, forlornly wishing he could spend his days there again. “Wouldn’t it be nice,” he mused, “if someone with lots of cash paid me to trick out a pile of junk?” Minutes later there’s a knock on the door. Which is odd, because he hasn't done business there in months, and can’t imagine who would be looking for him. Long story short again, it’s a famous basketball player asking Ron to "pimp out" a newly acquired '62 Lincoln with a no-holds-barred budget. Woo hoo!

One of my favorite east coast clients was in a funk as she left the house for an important appointment. She left garage keys behind, didn’t have time to go back, and caught a cab instead. Her cabbie drove like an “idiot,” and she wasn't shy saying so. She complained the whole way, and when it came time to pay, she only tipped him sixty cents.

Minutes later she was sick to realize she'd left her satchel in the cab. She knew she wouldn't see it again, and was devastated to realize all the irreplaceable items that were forever gone. Shortly after a stranger called her cell.

It was a woman asking if she’d left her bag in a cab. My client was speechless. The woman had found her bag, given it to the driver, who was driving it back to her home address. Her satchel was home before she was! My client tells me that simply doesn't happen in New York. Another miracle (especially considering her vibe)!

I could go on, but instead of having you read others’ miracles, how about getting in the game and creating your own? Set your sights on what you want, create the space for it (that’s mostly a mental job, you know), and have fun with it!

Tom Landry said it well: "A coach is someone who tells you what you don't want to hear, who has you see what you don't want to see, so you can be who you have always known you could be.”

Fabulous Resources

Seattle rock star Michael Pickett was kind enough to share with me his newly released "All Good Things" affirmation song. I LOVE waking up with this tune in my head! Michael and his partner, Jessy, are creating a whole slew of attration-based songs that make it easy & enjoyable to get in a good vibe. Keep them coming, Michael!

Is it just me, or is this the coolest ezine you get all week? Ha! Anyway, in interests of getting this ezine in the hands of many, it's posted on ezinefinder.com where you can rate it and find other cool ezines. Thanks to everyone who writes their appreciation, and as always, please send your suggestions for improvement! Thank you, friends.

One of my favorite coaching resources is Byron Katie's Inquiry. These four questions (and the turnaround) can be a powerful tool to use on your own for gaining peace of mind and practicing the "art of allowing."
