Regular readers know I'm a fan of dog whisperer Cesar Millan's work
because of his emphasis on teaching owners to shift their energy, rather
than thinking it's the dog who needs fixing.
So when I got a chance to hang out with
horse whisperer Koelle Simpson, I couldn't pass it up!
Studying energy through nature and animals seemed right up my alley.
One of the first things Koelle taught as we attempted to replicate her
success with the horses (in specific "join up" and "send out" exercises),
was that the secret isn't in what she did as much as how she felt.
Meaning, it's not the action that matters; it's the energy.
Which isn't news to anyone who has studied deliberate creation.
We know this stuff, right?
And yet, I can't count how many times a student of
Law of Attraction has
asked me what I "did" to build my coaching practice, find my guy, create
financial independence, etc.
Even though many know intellectually that it's the vibe that makes
the difference, when we get frustrated or desperate it's pretty
natural to fall back on action to try to plug in to success.
And sometimes that actually seems to work - which just further muddies the
waters!
But make no mistake, what we DO isn't what dictates the results.
Rather, how we FEEL - what we're vibrating - is the key to what
happens next.
(Note that when taking the action appears successful it's just because
doing so shifted the energy. That's all.)
So after Koelle demonstrated a join up, it was my turn to try.
I practice the same thing she did by stepping out in front of the horsie, my
shoulders angled in a particular direction and eyes looking at the ground to
invite her approach.
Same action; but absolutely no result.
My poor horse looked around like she was in there by herself, not knowing
what to do or what was expected of her.
Can you believe I fell for it? Thinking I could take the same actions
to get the same result?
That's when I realized how easy it is to forget what we know when
the pressure's on.
When we've got bills we can't pay, or need a date for our youngest sister's
wedding, or when mom and dad keep asking how our new business is going, when
we feel our biological clock ticking as we try to get pregnant - there's
lots of potential to scramble into "action" mode rather than remembering
the most important thing we could do is simply relax and feel good.
In the round pen with the horse, had I done NOTHING at all and just relaxed
and let go, there is no doubt in my mind that horse would have approached me
out of sheer curiosity. (Horses are so curious, I learned!)
My point in sharing this is to invite you to notice if/where you might be
willing something to happen that isn't; to become more
aware of your energy and how you're feeling; and to be less concerned about
what you're doing to make things happens.
This manifesting business isn't rocket science, it's
actually quite simple! It's just that it's contrary to virtually
everything everyone ever taught us, that's all. :)
But we're getting better at it every day, and there are more and more
joining us every day in remembering how it all works. So the good news
is we've got good practice and great company!
