Firing Up New Intentions
by Jeannette Maw

A New Twist on Old Manifesting Technique

As 2009 winds down you're probably inundated with suggestions for creating a powerful new year, right?  I know I am.

Amidst all the advice, I ran across a unique method for manifesting new intentions.  I liked it enough to share here.

Mike Dooley's "Manifesting Change" audio series is exceptional for many reasons (blog review coming soon).  One of my favorite nuggets is this exercise designed to empower new intentions:

1. Jot down as many thoughts of yours that have already become the things and events in your life.  Skip lines or leave a space between each bullet point.  Note dreams of yours that have already come true or thoughts of yours that have already become things.

Take a couple of minutes ...

2. Once you've made this list, in the spaces between each "dream come true" or "thoughts became things," jot down present dreams of yours that will become true

With the simple act of associating prior successes with successes you wish to experience, you will see you've been there before, you're not learning any new tricks, just exercising that ancient muscle that you came equipped with that effortlessly creates the world around you.

I'm one of those that usually skips the exercises. (I do them in my head, or think I'll do them later.)  But this one I really did.

It was profound.

First, just listing prior dreams come true is a powerful process. The acknowledgement of success and putting the spotlight on "wins" is a great vibe to activate!

But beyond that, going back through and filling new dreams in between existing dreams was incredibly empowering.  Seeing them all on one list made them feel TOTALLY do-able; so within reach!!  These other crazy things came true, why wouldn't THESE crazy things come true, too?

It brought these existing intentions to "no-brainer" status.  Of COURSE they're happening; they're on the same list with all the other wonderful things that have happened!
This process also revealed lingering doubts I wasn't aware of.  My dreams come true items were written in strong bold simple words, but my wishes for the future were smaller with lots of caveats.  Doubt revealed!

I rewrote the list so the past and future successes all looked the same (powerful writing, concise words) and hung it on the board where I see it every day.  Sometimes I get mixed up about which ones haven't happened yet .. which HAS to be a powerful message to Universe, right?  Mixing up my future dreams with my accomplished ones imbues them with the vibration of success!

For me it also reinforces the illusion of time - like things aren't so linear any more.  On some plane I already AM all these things I dream of.  (Which is a fluent Spanish speaker who's authored several impactful ebooks and has an enviable meditation practice and is the world's favorite LOA expert for hire!  hee hee)

It's your turn now.  If the exercise calls to you, please have fun with it!

PS: Mike offers two twists on the exercise you might enjoy as well (the last one I'm especially looking forward to!):

Jot down fears or challenges of the past that you've mastered or dealt with.  Intermingle that list with some present day fears or challenges.  This simple act of associating prior successes with present day challenges will immediately show you that you've been there before, you can do it again.

Third variation: Jot down the names of people who have achieved as you wish to achieve, and in that list put your name.

Thanks, Mike, for sharing such a simple yet powerful way to fire up new intentions for 2009!
