Keeping
It Clean? When was the last time you felt that internal nudge telling you "this
isn't right"? Or maybe you felt it as a knot in the stomach or other
physical sensation?
Regardless of how we hear it, we each have those moments (or months) when
something challenges our personal integrity and we're left with a choice:
listen to the internal voice or override it.
Why would we override internal guidance?
Perhaps we're not used to hearing it, or maybe the consequences of following
it seem scary, or we don't recognize what's truly at stake
when we ignore it.
Maybe we're afraid to disappoint someone else, or have been trained to do
what others expect, or it just seems too difficult to follow the inner
knowing.
I'm thinking of some German World War II officers who defended their
participation in war crimes by saying they were "just following
orders." I bet they had to do a lot of "overriding" to follow
those orders.
Or of how I stayed in my corporate job for years despite the dis-ease that
collected in my body. Or of clients who rationalize relationships they
know aren't serving them.
I even felt (and ignored) the nudge at the spa last week when I sat in a
senior stylist's chair for a haircut. I talked myself out of the
intuition that said "Not this" by saying to myself, "He's one of the best in
the country, Jeannette. He knows what he's doing. Don't hurt his
feelings!"
Whether it's someone's life, our personal integrity, or just our hairstyle
at stake - we'd do well to recognize the toll it takes on our vibration to
ignore that inner knowing. We cannot feel good about something
our true self believes isn't right for us, no matter how much we
wish it otherwise. And if we don't feel good - well, you know what
that attracts.
So to get what we want in life, we need to create vibration
alignment by keeping it clean.
By that I mean keeping the vibe clean by being willing to hear and act
on inner guidance; by recognizing when we're about to embark on
something misaligned to our integrity; and having the courage to choose
differently.
I know it's not always easy to end relationships (or initiate them, for that
matter!) or change careers or express a contrary opinion. Or even
to just trust yourself more than the "expert" who's telling you what's best.
But the vibrational toll it takes to ignore that inner knowing is also not
easy to deal with.
Just ask anyone who's lived the consequences of ignoring those gut
feelings. Whether it landed them in the hospital, jail, or in a
"successful" life they can't stand, it's a high price to pay to
ignore what you know is right for you.
If you find yourself stuck in an inauthentic situation that you don't know
how to get out of, put your True Self back in charge. It'll show you the
way out and guide you in the Clean Up. No guarantees it'll be a good
time, but the end result is well worth the journey.
And if your guidance says "get support" for this trip, consider retaining a good coach. They're worth their weight in gold for endeavors like this!
